So Far So Good: Readers Continue to Embrace ITGOB; Book to Hit No. 1 on NY Times Non-Fiction List Sunday, June 3

ITGOB debuted at No. 4 on the Times‘ list on Sunday, May 29, 2011, but then popped into the No. 1 slot for Sunday, June 3, 2011. Agents and editors learn this in advance so they can fetch their authors to New York in private jets loaded with champagne and lobster, and have Rolls Royce Silver Ghosts waiting at the curb at JFK with Mayor Bloomberg in the back seat poised to hand over the keys to the city and the combination to his personal vault at Bloomberg HQ.

Well, okay, maybe on some other planet. But, still, the Times No. 1 ranking is a very nice thing. And yours truly is very pleased. Though he has noted an uptick in cranky emails, including one from an amiable correspondent who sent the following one-line missive: “Next time set your book in the U.S.”
